Untried Untested

dance
performance
20—21.04.2012

Untried Untested is an experimental room with bodies and other objects. The performers carry out candid examinations on the objects, themselves and each other. The naïvety of their experiments masks a determination to discover new relations, ranging from the subtle to the violent. WIthout words, this space relies on tactility and observation - a meditation on materiality.

"With Untried Untested I was curious to occupy a space that was part performance and part installation... I wanted to push the tension between a 'biological' or human  sense of time versus another kind of 'object' time that is perhaps longer and slower. In these experiments a confusion eventually arises between the performers and their materials - about what and who is tested." - Kate McIntosh

Kate McIntosh is a New Zealand dancer and performance artist who has been based in Brussels for many years. Two years ago she created the successful Dark Matter, in which showbiz, musicals and stand-up comedy served as ‘artistic packaging’ for scientific experiments and philosophical reflections on the world and the universe. With a great deal of humour and enthusiasm, showbiz diva Kate and her two assistants confronted the audience with profound existential questions.
