To close the season, the occasional collective Lucinda Ra is organizing an open studio for three days. You are free to come in and out, join the conversations, or just to listen and watch the music, animated films, short presentations, and visual work. The kitchen – which forms the heart of the project – will be open throughout and is free. You can contribute your own ingredients: a ticket for Grondwerk costs 250 grams of food.

The young director Lisaboa Houbrechts is tackling Hamlet. She has opted for the female perspective, focusing on the destructive relationship between Hamlet and his mother Queen Gertrude. Houbrechts primarily aims to illustrate Gertrude’s innocence and thus to show the iconic play in a radically different light.

Fri 10.11 - Sun 26.11.17

Imagine that you could be somebody else just for a moment. In HOUSE, you are invited to an unknown location. Due to the unexpected situations in which you find yourself, as a viewer you can no longer continue to observe things from the side-lines: there is no place to hide. Without any coercion but in a completely natural, surreal way, you become part of a new ‘home’.

performance

Wed 22.04.20

Warning: this show is cancelled to help contain the spread of the new coronavirus.

In this performance about information fast food, vanity, fiction and the urge for affirmation, the artistic duo Sarah & Charles goes in search of the ultimate form of submission. In an age in which social media and the internet are expanding our view of the world, our minds appear to be narrowing emotionally. The performers invite you to a creative wellness centre where you can put your decision-making on hold.

Thu 01.01.70

A kombi is the typical private taxi-van that determines the street scenes of Kinshasa and many other African cities. In his first solo, Jeannot Kumbonyeki is using this kombi as a premise to talk about everyday reality, public provisions, and the position of artists in his country, the Democratic Republic of Congo.

Juli Apponen

lecture performance

Life is hard and then you die – part 3
Life is hard and then you die – part 3

lecture performance

Wed 07.03 - Thu 08.03.18

Juli Apponen exposes an autobiography of her body. Inevitably, it is about identity, sex and gender. The result is a collage of unspeakable pain, anatomical reports of far too many operations, and bureaucratic adventures. Who or what determines who or what you are? This compelling lecture performance will satisfy your curiosity, perhaps even more than you would actually like.

Thu 28.02 - Fri 01.03.19

The artistic paths of Marc Vanrunxt and Jan Martens have crossed several times, and they are now coalescing in a solo for Jan. Vanrunxt was there in the early eighties, at the cradle of the innovative dance wave in Flanders. A few generations later, Jan Martens is adding great verve to the succession and continuation of this wave. In lostmovements, they explore lost and forgotten movements.

Volmir Cordeiro

Tue 17.10 - Wed 18.10.17

After a series of solos, Volmir Cordeiro has created his first work for four dancers. He has created a dance that aims to express the physical movement and behaviour of the eye. The interior, the hidden and even the pre-human and cannibalistic is exposed in this intense, almost obsessive inquiry into dance, and into the ineffable itself.

MAISON

theatre

Sat 11.11 - Sun 26.11.17
