The worlds of artist-in-residence at Kaaitheater Benjamin Vandewalle, Kobe Wyffels, and Hannah Bekmans couldn’t not be more different. In Common Ground, they search for intersections and differences through movement. One moment they are performing fragile and intimate duets, but the next a competitive test of strength erupts. What can they learn from one another?

Five performers travel through the history of dance – and possibly into its future. Is it possible, today, to still believe in eternal values and universality? Things are built up only to fall down again, in much the same way that we long to constantly rediscover ourselves. In Built to Last (2012), Meg Stuart worked for the first time with existing classical music.

There will also be live music, surprise dance demonstrations, and live readings of ‘Letters to Dance’.

Unfortunately, we have to cancel all shows due to an injury of one of the dancers.

In 2017, Salva Sanchis and Anne Teresa De Keersmaeker adapted A Love Supreme with four young, male dancers. This exceptionally vital production was one of the highlights of the last season, and was promptly selected for the TheaterFestival. Join the dancers, and abandon yourself once again to Coltrane’s spiritual ode to divine love!
