Damn + Blast

performance

CANCELLED!

Encouragement and banter

We laugh to allay our fears. This is what Kate McIntosh and Wendy Houstoun do in Damn + Blast. They describe a world in which everyone and everything is or should be always in motion, a world of whipped up anxiety and orchestrated fear. They are a traditional comic duo, the kind that rests more on encouragement and banter than combat and competition. Damn + Blast endeavours to place the performers in situations where their coping strategies are stretched, their habitual tactics are challenged, and their capacity to work as a team is under duress.
As a performance, Damn + Blast is interested in combining theatrical strategies, formal composition, and the anarchic power of the comedian. It wants to teeter along the lines of experiment and entertainment

• Kate McIntosh studied dance in New Zealand but has lived and worked in Brussels for many years. Her work has already been presented at the Kaaistudios, including recent productions such as Dark Matter (2009) and Untried and Untested (2012). She has worked with Tim Etchells and Forced Entertainment on several occasions. The British Wendy Houstoun works both as a solo performer and with other artists. She has appeared at the Kaaitheater in performances by Tim Etchells, Jonathan Burrows and Davis Freeman.
