Marc Vanrunxt, Champ d'Action & Salva Sanchis [BE]
For Edward Krasinski
16.11 – 17.11.2010
Two pieces of choreography are performed simultaneously to the same music and in the same stage set. This is the concept that choreographer Marc Vanrunxt presented to his colleague Salva Sanchis. In Raum (2006), Vanrunxt put two set designers to work, and now it’s two choreographers. ‘We each make our own dance out of Feldman’s Triadic memories, each with his own male or female dancer’, says Vanrunxt. ‘Only during the final days of the creative process will we bring the two dances together. The starting point is a big question mark and I hope to be able to exploit it as long as possible.’
● Marc Vanrunxt has worked as a dancer and choreographer for more than twenty years. He sees dance as ‘physicality in movement’. All meaning is focused on the presence of the dancer in space and time, with the music as a guide. Vanrunxt has often used Morton Feldman’s music. The artist Koenraad Dedobbeleer is another recurring name in his work. Salva Sanchis joined the dance organisation Kunst/Werk as a choreographer in 2009.
