Forces of Nature follows a movement of an articulate and complex organism composed of five persons with different energies and ideas. Their desires might not be the same, but they have a common goal: the construction of a shared physical and imaginary space.

Thu 21.10 - Fri 22.10.21

Diederik Peeters adopts the role of an illusionist, but quickly gets lost in his own illusions. With optical tricks from the 19th century, he breathes life into his own shadow and conjures the ghosts of the future. In a kind of visual delirium, echoes of Méliès or Houdini clash with the 22nd century. Are the dead alive here, and does the future simply occur in the present?

Tue 09.11 - Wed 10.11.21

In the coming years, Jan Decorte and Sigrid Vinks will focus on collaborating with young performers. BLOOD LTD by Bloet is a project with the density of a black hole. All themes, visions, opinions, dogmas and manifestos are swallowed up and evolve from a meaningless zero to a meaningful chaos. Jan Decorte and Sigrid Vinks, together with Ika Schwander and Oumar Dicko, create their own theatre language: light, whispering and fleeting.

Wed 01.12 - Thu 02.12.21

For this performance, choreographer Jérôme Bel asked actress Jolente de Keersmaeker not to play any of her usual roles from the theatre repertoire but to perform pieces from modern dance. Yet Dance for an Actress is not just a dance performance. As Jolente de Keermaeker still has some way to being a professional dancer, she throws all the usual formality of dance overboard. Expect an evening as dancing as it is theatrical on the cutting edge of movement and words, of body and imagination.

Tibaldus has dived into Madmen & Specialists, a text by the Nigerian Nobel Prize winner Wole Soyinka. While a son works with complete conviction for a fascist system, his father has lost all faith in every system. Expect Tibaldus' most disconcerting performance so far.

Gravity, inertia, resistance, momentum, action, and reaction. These are the five fundamental mechanical principles of movement we must control in order to walk and dance. Forces of Nature follows the movements of a complex organism that is constituted of five dancers, each with their own energy and ideas. From their negotiations and questions flows a score.

‘I resist the laziness of resistance. I am disgusted by how rage imagines itself to be a valid argument. I am ashamed of the dullness of the screamers. After Otaku, In Onaanvaardbare Staat and Habeus Corpus Joost Vandecasteele is returning with this new solo.

People with physical disabilities are often more associated with stationariness than with movement. In Every Body Electric, Doris Uhlich refutes this idea with vitality and vibrancy. What other possibilities open up when wheelchairs, prostheses and crutches are not perceived as obstacles but as powerful extensions of the body? You can expect a fascinating dialogue between the human and the mechanical in which very personal dance styles vary from explosive to gently poetic.

For centuries, dancers have been counting their steps to 4, 6 or 8. But what if dancers were to count to infinity? Boris Charmatz: ‘I have always hated counting while dancing. In this piece, we count, speak and sing not only so that we can dance, but first and foremost, so that our minds can wander even more.’ In a world that is being increasingly enslaved by algorithms, Charmatz offers a moment of infinity.

Does gender have a voice? Using drag, vogueing, striptease, YouTube tutorials as well as the triadic ballet by Oskar Schlemmer, seven bodies and many more objects try out new constellations, like surrealist ready-mades. With a great sense of irony, Escape Act presents hyper-stereotyped gender identities, only to deconstruct them completely.

Thu 13.02 - Sat 15.02.20

This curated Beckett evening presents a surprising mix of forms: a monologue by Johan Leysen; a video lecture by philosopher and mathematician Jean Paul Van Bendegem; and a performative scenography as a possible landscape for a Beckett text. Through this combination, Kris Verdonck explores a fascination that he shares with Beckett, namely technology and the increasing conflict between humans and machines.

While many creators praise the empty stage as the central place for fantasy, in Physics and Phantasma it becomes compulsive and traumatic. The vacuum must at all costs by filled with something! To this end, Iggy Lond Malmborg takes you on a journey to random and dark corners of your imagination: the place where this solo takes shape.

On a bare stage under bright light, six hapless clowns do their best to get along and pass the time. They fight and chase in eruptions of uneasy mayhem, then cool off a little, settle and wait for the whole thing to kick off again. Carefully unbalanced between funny and not funny, Out Of Order is the ruins of a show in the ruins of a world.

Across the span of a decade and a half, Boyzie Cekwana and Danya Hammoud have kept a nodding acknowledgement of each other’s trajectories and strategies for survival. Now they come together so they can stand, one next to the other, one on top of the other, turning, bending and entangling around each other. 'We come together so we can both reach down to the top of our boots and take out our bootlegged goods, our smuggled stories.'
