Documentairemaakster en beeldend kunstenaar Els Dietvorst woont sinds een vijftal jaar in Ierland. In 2015 maakte ze daar The Rabbit and the Teasel, over het leven van de Ierse boeren. Het werd het eerste luik van een triptiek over de mens-natuur-relatie en onze voedselketen. Met I watched the white dog of the dawn presenteert ze nu het tweede luik. Ditmaal zijn de Ierse vissers aan de beurt, die het steeds moeilijker trekken onder de Europese quota’s voor visvangst. Een gesprek over een wereld op de helling. Of zoals de schrijver John Berger het zou zeggen: “It is the end of something.”
