bodies of knowledge (BOK) considers the city as a rich source of valuable knowledge. Every passer- by could teach you something from their own background and life-experiences. BOK seeks to share this invisibilized or suppressed knowledge through oral transmission, that potentially could give rise to a socially more just society. The Big BOK Multiplication tells the story of one and a half year of BOK in Brussels. It's the gathering of a learning community, and an encounter with a living corpus of non-dominant knowledge. Feel welcome to join and learn along.

Thu 13.01 - Sat 15.01.22

Infidèles is a performance about a love triangle that ended disastrously, and about the impact of lies and deceit. In this homage to Ingmar Bergman, four actors present a tragedy about ordinary life which exposes human aspects all too familiar. All this is presented in the well-known STAN style: with the necessary lightness and detachment. In 2018, Infidèles premiered in a French language version – now you can experience the show in Dutch for the first time.

Tue 09.11 - Wed 10.11.21

In the coming years, Jan Decorte and Sigrid Vinks will focus on collaborating with young performers. BLOOD LTD by Bloet is a project with the density of a black hole. All themes, visions, opinions, dogmas and manifestos are swallowed up and evolve from a meaningless zero to a meaningful chaos. Jan Decorte and Sigrid Vinks, together with Ika Schwander and Oumar Dicko, create their own theatre language: light, whispering and fleeting.

B**** is as much an intimate moment as a performance, which paves the way for female victims of violence to an individual and collective consciousness. Starting from hip-hop and breakdance, and with martial arts influences such as Kung-fu and classical Khmer dance, Yipoon Chiem tells a story of the loss of the soul's sense of purpose, that makes you angry without having the strength to do anything.

Three performers and a DJ play a series of novel characters. From a young woman who is looking for her beloved who left to be a resistance fighter, to a weeping Iraqi taxi driver who collects stories about illnesses. Just like theatre, interviews often toy with the border between appearance and authenticity, and it is precisely this border that Enkidu Khaled explores in his Scheherazade-esque story marathon.

How do we relate to death? Dances of Death is a physically intense performance with seven dancers and one singer. Together they propose the physical potential of dancing as the path to redemption. How would a dance of death be danced today?

Joining the American-British invasion of Iraq in 2003 was Japan’s first military engagement since WWII. Historic peace marches took place in Tokyo, and many of the protesters were young people. In Five Days in March, a number of characters voice their deeply personal concerns. The image they sketch of their personal, everyday lives in Tokyo stands in sharp contrast to their public participation in the demonstrations. In this adaptation of his original 2007 creation, Toshiki Okada sketches a generation of young people who have lost their way.

El Conde de Torrefiel is one of the recent revelations at the Kunstenfestivaldesarts. The duo creates visual performances in which hyper-realistic tableaux are juxtaposed with incisive texts – a mix of history, current affairs, and futurism. LA PLAZA treats the stage as a square: a public space in which banal, everyday activities in today’s Europe occur, but where disquieting scenes of the future also play out.
