PONI starts out from very concrete elements: a penalty kick in football, the shooter, the ball, the goalie and the net. They are also inspired by each other and the world around them as well as by science fiction, ritual and science.  They attack dance under the enigmatic title Pnlt + eay = Penalty. The production is set up on a budget of 0.0 euro. You will be watching a try-out.

This group of seventh-generation students comprises 20 dancers and choreographers from 13 countries. For the last two years Zulu Nation has also been responsible for the highly popular hiphop dance acts at our Long Night of Dance events.

KUNSTENFESTIVALDESARTS 08 - The performance is a radio show for soldiers at the front. Twelve contemporary pop songs are alternated with light comments in ‘chewing gum English’. Wölfl’s dancers move cautiously and cold-bloodedly, whether they are playing an electric guitar on tiptoes or elegantly draping a leg over a synthesiser.

KUNSTENFESTIVALDESARTS 08 - Over the last ten years Thomas Hauert has, both at home and abroad, shown himself to be a choreographer with a voice of his own. His latest piece, Accords, is an abstract choreographic composition that one experiences like a piece of music. The dancers physically transpose, amplify or distort the dynamics, harmony, melody and counterpoint in their bodies.

KUNSTENFESTIVALDESARTS 08 - Melting glaciers, burning forests, cities under water, screens and cameras spying on us, weapons of mass destruction... End starts out from the images the media project onto our retinas. The performance artist Kris Verdonck shows the possible final stages of a human society in ten scenes that are linked by a monologue by a speaking character (Johan Leysen).

PRODUCTION CANCELLED! The new production by the American choreographer Jennifer Lacey and the French artist Nadia Lauro has modest beginnings: a simple curiosity about the shared space between the soloist and the group. Charles Fourier, Anne Lee, the Marquis de Sade, Roland Barthes and others are astonished to find themselves sitting together around the same campfire.

Gives you an appetite for more. Machinations, first performed in 2000, is pure Aperghis and is the liveliest and most moving piece he has ever written. Music, text, video and performers enter into an alchemical combination.

Two ‘little men’ on stage. They carry out movements, make sounds, speak and sing. Everything is done in a virtuoso rhythm, with exact timing, sometimes in unison, sometimes in two voices. Actually they are involved in a lively conversation with each other which is carried out in sounds and gestures. A choreographic, musical and poetic gem. Irresistibly comical!

The spirit of the ‘gamelan’ is evoked by the expanded percussion section (marimba, vibraphone, celeste, gongs, glockenspiel and tubular bells, and traditional elements of the gamelan).
