The FoAM urban laboratory in Brussels is researching how people and plants can live and work together to create a healthy environment. Their Resilients Salon is a relaxed event with thematically linked food and drink open to everyone. Entry is payable by tomato, home grown or otherwise. The tomatoes will be made into a tasty soup.

Welcome to the info-day for the new season. We offer  you a drink and tailormade advice on dance, Dutch-language and international theatre, small- and large-scale productions, experimental and ‘traditional’ work, music and musical theatre, politically and ecologically-inspired projects and much more.

Art, science and activism intersect on this Triangular Walk. Three guides lead three groups of participants round three urban garden projects and through the surrounding streets. After the walk the various groups will meet up in the Open Green Rooftop Garden.

Platform Kanal was set up a year and a half ago. It is a network comprising many of the zone’s actors. Its aim is to think about and work on an overall, integrated vision for the development of the Brussels canal zone. The urban research group from the VUB and La Cambre school of architecture will provide the presentations.

More and more people agree that when it comes to selection criteria in business, a lot still has to change before women truly have equal opportunities. The call for quotas seems to be getting louder all the time. But are quotas the right approach? And if so, what would a realistic percentage be? And should we introduce quotas for other minorities too?

Computers, Privacy and Data Protection is a two-day-conference for academics, practitioners, policy-makers and activists to come together, exchange ideas and discuss emerging issues of information technology, privacy, data protection and law. This year’s conference theme ‘An Element of Choice’ has been chosen because of the many options open for data protection policy. Technological change is dictated by higher forces, but can be steered.

A series of talks organised by the Flemish-Dutch Centre deBuren, intended for higher education students, but everyone is welcome. There will be two series which one can attend in full or in part.

The world is in a wretched state, as we know. How can we change it? Peter Tom Jones and Vicky De Meyere – both guests in Burning Ice #1 last year – have published a book that focuses not on the problems, but the solutions. It’s a superb book that shows us how to change course. Terra Reversa offers appealing guidelines for a better society, whose main elements are comfortable living, justice, ecological sustainability and meaningful employment.

Het Theaterfestival '09 - Benjamin Verdonck is continuing work on KALENDER, his cycle of ‘actions’ in the public space which began on January 3rd 2009. He is turning his back on the auditorium for 365 days to perform a hundred mostly unannounced actions in the city of Antwerp, in the middle of squares, tucked away in alleyways or balancing on top of a tree.
