Dan Graham's work provocatively analyses the historical, social and ideological functions of contemporary culture, including architecture, rock music, and television. Deconstructing the act of viewing, he manipulates your perception with time delay, projections, closed-circuit video, and mirrors. 

This essay film about philosopher Byung-Chul Han encircles the phenomenon of fatigue in our capitalistic societies – and its associated symptoms, such as depression and burnout. Following the screening of the film, Bieke Purnelle will moderate a debate with Ignaas Devisch, Valentine Kempynck, David Weber-Krebs and Patrícia Portela.

The philosopher Vinciane Despret asks 26 intriguing and pertinent questions about what animals do, want and ‘think’. This yields marvellous and sometimes hilarious stories, told by scientists, animal-tamers, zookeepers, etc. Stories that make us think. We are screening two short documentaries made in 2005 by film-maker and activist Didier Demorcy, to which Vinciane Despret also contributed, one on sheep, one on wolves.

An evening with lecture-performances, film and music. The Beursschouwburg is presenting work by the Russian activist art collective Chto Delat?, the young Dutch artist Hedwig Houben, the English performer Zoe Laughlin and the Swiss fashion designer, performer and musician Christoph Hefti.

What would the transition to a low-oil society look like? Sometimes utopian, sometimes real, but always full of imagination.

In the twentieth century, mobility became the symbol of freedom and progress. But at a time of greenhouse gases and peak oil, the symbolic value of mobility is being rapidly reversed. And a different, more distressing form of mobility is making its appearance: that of climate refugees.
