WORKING TITLE FESTIVAL — Hidden at the basement of workspacebrussels, lies Kosi Hidama’s atelier. Occupying the space over the past few years, his work slowly started invading all the other spaces of the building. With Garden of solid subtleness Kosi will create an interior summer garden with the ceramics he produced at his basement atelier, in combination with subtle sounds. The artist invited his friend Misha Downey to work with him on this pottery landscape.

WORKING TITLE FESTIVAL — Emi Kodama and Elias Heuninck encourage you to look at an ordinary object and explore a vast imagined landscape through its miniature world. They show that everything can become many things, as long as you allow your imagination to look beyond its current reality.

How do we deal with mourning and loss nowadays? Life is a succession of transitional moments, major and minor connections that inevitably change you. The decreasing importance of traditional rituals to experience transitional moments has resulted in a search for alternatives. 

Dan Graham's work provocatively analyses the historical, social and ideological functions of contemporary culture, including architecture, rock music, and television. Deconstructing the act of viewing, he manipulates your perception with time delay, projections, closed-circuit video, and mirrors. 

Starting from linguist George Lakoff's archetypes to describe the dynamics between politicians and citizens, Liz Magic Laser has made a colourful instructional video for a political dance therapy.

Hiba Alansari found a math book in a destroyed house in northern Syria in 2014. It belonged to a young girl who died during the bombardment. The Math Book is a collection of sculptural forms in cement and sponge, designed to encapsulate the moment of the explosion.

The film Mitten follows the final weeks of rehearsal of Mitten wir im Leben sind, the performance by Anne Teresa De Keersmaeker, her company Rosas and cellist Jean-Guihen Queyras, based on the six cello suites by Johann Sebastian Bach. This intense creative process of continuously reshaping and honing, characterised by De Keersmaeker’s inexhaustible longing for precision and detail, is reflected in the filmmakers’ patient look at the work of the choreographer, the musician and dancers.

With a role of tape and a magic lantern, the children in PLAKFILM gauge the turbulence of our age. They roll out transparent tape in the streets where they grew up. When they strip the tape away, an imprint of the city comes with it: dust, sand, candy wrappers, insects, glass, bits of fluff…

All arrivers are connected by one thing: the search for ways to become rooted in a new city with other customs and conventions, and to forge relationships with its inhabitants. To explore ideas about life in a shared city, artists Paulo Guerreiro and Fleur Khani invited a diverse group of people over the last few months. Through the power of old and new rituals, they developed a laboratory full of open-mindedness, body and voice practices, writing, listening, and most of all… a deep sense of belonging. 

The videos and writings of Els Dietvorst explore themes such as social conflict and survival in the margins. Art-Coeur-Merci is a film installation about a young Cameroonian man trying to survive in Brussels, with the addition of a performance by Angélique Wilkie. They make us reflect on the essential things in life.

Burning Ice - This documentary reveals the motivations and inner life of the cooperative. It shows people who in a time of economic and ecological crisis are doing something to counter the might of industrial agriculture: The strategy of bent cucumbers.
