Me, Myself & We. This was the title of a series of performances and talks we have presented in the season that is now approaching its end. The thread running through it all was ‘collectivity versus individualism’. Wouter Hillaert (rekto:verso) looks back together with choreographer Meg Stuart, Anoek Nuyens, Veridiana Zurita, Kristof van Baarle and Kate McIntosh. And you can join in at the table.

Dancers, actors, musicians, set, lighting and costume designers enter into dialogue with one another as equals. One powerful image succeeds another. In Sketches/Notebook, you are repeatedly swept along by the image, movement and music, and are inevitably drawn into this bizarre and intimate ritual.

What happens when people come together, how do we relate to and in a group? This is the fundamental question in two productions by the choreographer and performer Ivana Müller. You can watch them both on the same evening. In the production In common you are the observer and in We are still watching you are the participant. A written script guides you through unexpected scenes and situations.

Christophe Meierhans fundamentally questions our democratic system. The script of his performance is nothing but a new constitution for a radically different democratic state. Meierhans developed it in collaboration with specialists at various Belgian universities.

Pieter De Buysser is currently compiling a collection of historic objects. In Landschap met springwegen they acquire a new role, to do justice to the factual history and at the same time to twist, break open and displace it. This, says De Buysser, is the importance of a storyteller today.

In A Speculation the Turkish choreographer Begüm Erciyas wants to chart money and all its movements. How do you create a choreography for something that can always be exchanged for something else? How can you make something dance when it has no body? Can the dynamics of the market be shown on stage?

The performances and installations by Gisèle Vienne shift the boundaries between appearance and reality and so open ‘another’ world. In The Pyre it consists of a dancer and a boy, in a metropolis at night. Abstract dance, tableau vivant and theatrical narration to a fascinating soundscape.

Are we just bystanders of ephemeral performances that wither away in the public space? What can art do, when it refuses the ethical purpose that government delegates its with, and stages disagreement that repoliticizes the public space? With a keynote lecture by Claire Bishop, author of the acclaimed book Artificial Hells: Participatory Art and the Politics of Spectatorship.

For his Sacré Sacre du Printemps, Laurent Chétouane has chosen one of the most influential works in the history of modern dance. Unlike Maurice Béjart and Pina Bausch, he shifts the topic of ritual spring sacrifice to a sacrifice of Le sacre du printemps itself. He asks himself why we as a community wish to assimilate the foreign.

De Warme Winkel has a great love of history and a fascination with our era, which is both complex and polymorphous. In We are your friends it tests Europe’s use-by date. In a struggle that is playful, witty and tough, they try to convey the essence and beauty of the subject to the audience.

Het Theaterfestival 2013 - Nora by the Norwegian playwright Henrik Ibsen premiered at the Royal Theatre in Copenhagen, Denmark, on 21 December 1879. The play, written while Ibsen was in Rome and Amalfi, Italy, was conceived at a time of revolution in Europe. Charged with the fever of the 1848 European revolutions, a new modern perspective was emerging in the literary and dramatic world, challenging the romantic tradition.
