Tijdens de interactieve ‘Urban Showcas’e expo op 30 april stellen de jongeren van Academy for Urban Action hun eerste bevindingen en resultaten voor rond het thema ‘De Stad en ik/wij’. Op het programma: tal van workshops en nieuwe tools, met onder andere een zelfontwikkeld logo, het AUA manifest, een kaartspel over stedelijke reflectie, een ‘Urban Podcast’ wandeling en een Tindereske ‘Swipe for Brussels’ app.

In Operette, Polish writer Witold Gombrowicz presents the history of the 20th century as a series of costume changes. As a contrast, he uses the human being who wants to withdraw from this process in order to be able to be 'naked’. Tibaldus is now staging their third Gombrowicz: a performance that philosophises lightly about the cogwheel of history, with the passion and holy stupidity of an operetta.

Three companies are making the same number of performances about the person and work of the American cult author David Foster Wallace. The starting point is the author's biography, his addiction, genius, insecurity, depression and hyper-consciousness. The first part, DAVID of hoe we ons bedacht hebben (DAVID or how we imagined ourselves), explores how to live a meaningful life, a life that is connected to others and to the world.

What does it do to someone to grow up without a warm and safe nest? For months, Kyoko Scholiers immersed herself in the world of youth care: she interviewed juvenile judges, foster families, child psychiatrists, educators, children and their parents... Based on all these experiences, she wrote the fictional play BOY, with a soundscape sung live by Opera Ballet Flanders' children's choir.
