As the world stands on the verge of collapse, a man and a woman exchange a razor-sharp dialogue based on a caustic text by Heiner Müller. Frank Vercruyssen from tg STAN and Cynthia Loemij from Rosas share the stage and explore the essence of the relationship between words and movement. Again at Kaaitheater after 20 years!

Het Theaterfestival 2015 -With incisiveness and ingenuity, Father examines the moments when an old man’s memories (or are they imaginings, hallucinations?) start constantly turning the realities of everyday life into fantasy. Spectacular dance scenes are alternated wondrously with intimate and moving images.

Het Theaterfestival 2015 - In Hunter, her first full-length solo, the choreographer Meg Stuart explores her own body as an archive populated with personal and cultural memories, ancestors and artistic heroes, fantasies and invisible forces.

As from this season, the Kaaitheater and the RITS will be joining forces for the presentation of graduation productions from the college’s theatre course. These productions are the final part of the Bachelor and Master courses in Acting and Directing. All shows are in Dutch.

In their double one-woman show Eleanor Bauer and Heather Lang create an amalgam of theatre genres and familiar characters, nothing is too outrageous for them: a drag show, a spiritual talk show, television commercials... Amidst all this madness they turn their guns on such major concepts as cultural identity, capitalism and creative expression and apply them to the theme of ‘gender’ and the emancipation of the performer.

Travelling between the West African metropolis Abidjan and the European art and theatre scene, Monika Gintersdorfer and Knut Klassen are not looking for a mutually inspiring intercultural exchange. Rather, the differences and contradictions between whites and blacks are the driving force behind their idiosyncratic performances. Together with their performers they create theatre to the irresistible rhythm of the heartbeat of the Abidjan club and performance scene. Every night at the Kaaistudio’s will be an all-round happening with at least two performances, dance, theatre, lifestyle, music and partying!

Jan Decorte has been using dance and dancers in his theatre productions for many years (a.o. Charlotte Vanden Eynde and Anne Teresa De Keersmaeker). But the written word was always the chief source for every project. In Tanzung, however, he is for the first time starting out resolutely from movement.

Nachtevening is the second part of Inne Goris’ diptych centred on the stage classic Medea. A pared-down, sensory performance where the words by Inne Goris and Pieter De Buysser and the music by Eavesdropper are well matched. Two people enter the arena, driven on by a live eight-member chorus that now and then forces them to stop and reflect in this emotion-filled arena.

nusch is based on the poems Uninterrupted Poetry (1945) and Nusch (1950) and the volume of poetry Time overflowing (1947) by the French poet Paul Eluard, one of the most important representatives of surrealism. Nusch (Maria Benz) was his life companion and muse. The poems he wrote for her are amongst the most beautiful love poems in French literature.

In performances such as Just Before, I said I, Quartett and In Real Time, Anne Teresa De Keersmaeker and her sister Jolente (of Tg Stan) examine the relationship between language and movement. This also applies to Kassandra - speaking in twelve voices, which is danced to an English script written by Oscar van Woensel (see Dood Paard) for the seven female and five male dancers in Rosas. This new version of Kassandra comprises more dance material than in the first performance.
