In 1998, together with the pupils of the Maria Boodschap primary school in Brussels, the composer Walter Hus created a children’s opera about the fantasy of night and dreams. Hus is now reviving this opera with about 300 children from 6 to 13 from the Academy of Word and Music in Sint-Agatha-Berchem (Brussels), where he teaches piano.

In Le comeback de Jean-Baptiste Wayn Traub relates the life story of the mysterious French cabaret singer Jean-Baptiste, from foundling to world star. The performance is a theatrical symphony with four unusual soloists (Birdy Nam Nam is world champion in scratching), an acting conductor (Hervé Niquet) and two demonic narrators who support Jean-Baptiste in his first public appearance.

Jan Decorte directs his first opera, Dido and Aeneas, the best-known work by Henry Purcell. As always, he attempts to reduce what happens on stage to its very essence: minimal, abstract and authentic. B’Rock, a young Flemish ensemble that was born out of the need for more passion and ‘more rock’ in the world of early music, is conducted by Richard Egarr.
