On the eve of the second anniversary of the Brussels bombings, we’re bringing together three experts on mourning. After Anders Breivik’s bloodbath in Norway, Jone Salomonsen founded a research group on new rituals as a reaction to attacks. Kristin Verellen – who lost her partner in the Brussels attacks – talks about her circle gatherings that aim to foster a culture of togetherness and dialogue. And architect Koen Van Synghel discusses (temporary) mourning monuments.

Staged in many locations throughout the city, the Ramlila features gods, demons, royals, animals, and ordinary people.
