workshop

Sun 15.11 - Sun 15.11.20

Please note: this show has been cancelled to help contain the spread of the new coronavirus.

Tjitske Hemkes is building a soft futuristic landscape. With soft fabrics, movement, sound and fantasy, she creates mountain ridges and valleys. The children are also allowed to work with the colourful fabrics themselves. What do you see in all these forms? You will then go on safari through this new world and imagine the plants and animals you encounter there.

Sat 23.04.16

You see a robot trying to stand upright. It always falls over again, but does not give up. It cheerfully and indefatigably undergoes the process of trial and error, falling over and picking itself up again.

CANCELLED - Susan Neiman will be replaced by David Van Reybrouck

The world is in the midst of change, while at the same time there is little that can be changed. There is a great temptation to sit back cynically and do nothing – but isn’t that simply a form of laziness. Should we not argue for a mature idealism, as the American writer and moral philosopher Susan Neiman does?

The value of philosophy as daily practice

Sat 12.03.16

Marli Huijer describes her practice as ‘in-between thinking’: standing in amongst the things of life and reflecting on them with a philosophical gaze. This broader access to philosophy stands in sharp contrast to the academic philosophy that is aimed at insiders. What will become of pure thinking if philosophy is given a purely practical, everyday role?

Filosofische referenties en authenticiteit

Philosophical references and authenticity
Philosophical references and authenticity

Fri 11.03.16

Although pure thought is under pressure in our society, the use of philosophical references remains popular. In the performing arts, Deleuze is one such established figure. We must therefore ask: how close are we to the authentic views of a philosopher – and is this thanks to or in spite of these references?

Fri 19.02.16

In the framework of Kaaitheater's Burning Ice festival, visual artist Jaakko Pallasvuo will organize a Worktable around the vague feeling that our civilization is approaching its end. An invitation to think about refusal as a form of practice, to meditate on radical artworld quitters like Lee Lozano and Charlotte Posenenske.
