installation

Thu 15.04 - Fri 16.04.21

For this extra-large edition of the Open Studios, workspacebrussels has mapped out a museum-like route throughout their spaces and the neighbouring Kaaistudios. As you discover both buildings from sides you haven’t seen before, you will be surprised by installations, sculptures and videos set up in unexpected places. But the experience doesn’t end there: you are also invited to a curated walk in the city, a WhatsApp-performance, and unannounced interventions in public space.

performance

Fri 28.06.19

WORKING TITLE FESTIVAL — Within a series of small compositions, bodies are placed and displaced in relation to each other. Playing with weight and balance, they counterbalance and shape the space between them. In the margin of the performance, Wouter Krokaert also shows the visual work that underlies it. What is explored in one area is reinforced and supplemented in another, across the boundaries of disciplines.

Patrícia Portela invites you to an installation of four rooms, which you walk through one by one. Chef Annick Gernaey prepares a 'sleeping supper' and Antarctica researcher Nathalie Pattyn (VUB) discusses the influence of light and dark on the quality of sleep.

What does it mean to abandon yourself to sleep in a society which considers it to be an inevitable illness? Patrícia Portela invites you to an installation of four rooms, which you walk through one by one. You pass a series of paintings, images that pass you by almost unnoticed. While listening to 1001 stories, you are enticed to fall asleep – or perhaps to wake up.

exhibition

Thu 12.12 - Fri 13.12.13

The city is in constant movement, as passers-by involuntarily create duets, trios, choruses,... A person standing still in the moving city appears to be the main character of a short crossroad scene. In this project, Ariane Loze looks for a new continuity of the city through a montage technique that falls back on choreographic principles. Can editing be dance? And how does editing move?

Working Title Platform #3 - Does the manner in which we look at things influence the world around us? The Reflecting Pool exhibition explores the ways in which techniques such as framing and editing, mainly associated with cinema, are also used in dance and visual arts to challenge our gaze.  Running parallel with the dance installations Birdwatching and One/Zero by Benjamin Vandewalle and Erki De Vries, you enter a world in which physical and mental movement are always an extension of each other.
