Thierry De Mey has been exploring the grey area between dance and music for more than 30 years. He has composed music for dance performances, directed films about dance, and constructed choreographic multimedia installations. In 2016, for the first time, he has created a dance performance for the big stage, in collaboration with Ensemble intercontemporain, the legendary Paris music ensemble founded by Pierre Boulez.

With Dance # 2 Christine De Smedt and Eszter Salamon continue to build on Dance # 1 / Driftworks. The first part – listening & mouthing – was inspired by Inuit throat-singing duets. In part two – words & gestures – a dialogue develops in which syllables and words become attached to movements. What does a choreography look like when it resembles a ping-pong game of question and answer?

Choreographer Jonathan Burrows and composer Matteo Fargion present two of their playful, tightly composed duets. Eleanor And Flora Music is a new version of their iconic Both Sitting Duet. Subsequently, Burrows and Fargion perform Alvin Lucier's I Am Sitting In A Room. They interpret Lucier's generously open score to arrive at a performance that meditates on its own theft, even while slowly disappearing.

The revival of Verklärte Nacht enables you to discover (or rediscover) one of Anne Teresa De Keersmaeker's finest works in a special location, the Rosas Performance Space, which is De Keersmaeker’s workplace. Allow yourself to be seduced by this unabashedly romantic duet to the lyrical sounds of Arnold Schoenberg's strings.

Radouan Mriziga approaches dance from an architectural perspective. He searches for a transparent structure in which movement and narrative are distilled from constructing. For 3600 seconds, body and spirit merge in a space where the performers become both craftsman and architect.

Nine performers appear and disappear through openings in a wall of mirrors. Each appearance is a scene based on situations from everyday life. The choreography of the piece portrays human existence as perpetual motion.

Technological developments lead to a potential new era, that of Technological Singularity. Sandy Williams creates a performance about the tension between our raw, flawed and incomplete human nature and the immaculate potential of a digitised future.
