Working Title Platform #6 - A new constitution for democratic systems - that is the remarkable starting point of ‘Some use for your broken clay pots’, a tripartite project by Christophe Meierhans. A theatrical performance, a book and a film will be based on a legal text that prescribes all the institutions, organs, laws and procedures necessary for the establishment of a realistic and functional democratic regime.

Thu 13.06 - Fri 14.06.13

Working Title Platform #6 - Gabriel Schenker’s research aims at exploring the simultaneous possibilities of the body-mind for, on the one hand, producing and coordinating movement in different forms, degrees and intensities, and on the other, its ability for producing mind-images, thought, and language. What is the relation between the processes at work in motion, bodily coordinations/patterns, and the processes of imagining, associating, thinking?

The 'H' in H, an incident refers to the life and work of the Russian writer Daniil Harms (or Charms). Harms was the author of a remarkable body of work. His humour and violence remind us of Monty Python. H, an incident is the first musical-theatre production by theatre-maker and visual artist Kris Verdonck.

Wed 08.05 - Sat 11.05.13

Combining words, music and movement, this melancholic and turbulent solo by the young Croatian dancer, choreographer and video director Matija Ferlin, cultivates the ambiguity of signs and plays on the oppositions between body and mind, the individual and history. Between the ghosts of the past and promises of the future, a young artist is seeking to be today. A revelation!

Fri 22.03 - Sat 23.03.13

Welcome to the Jungle is a performance installation inspired by ‘global weirding’, a term used to describe the effects of global warming. You make your way through a strange and desolate labyrinth of mirror foil and a sensory jungle that excites through its abundance of pseudo-natural stimuli. Like the performers, you are given a costume to wear. This adds to the confusion on the route. Who is the spectator?

'This is theatre like it was to be expected and foreseen.' The legendary first theatre production by Jan Fabre. The performance lasts eight hours, the length of a typical working day. Fabre opts radically for the ‘real’ rather than the fiction, the illusion or the lie that we normally expect to see on stage.

Record of Time is a dialogue between live action and life-sized projections, a performance in which the use of video would not be decorative but really play a central role. A poetic trompe l'oeil arises out of a rapid succession of movements, objects and images. An overwhelming 'crescendo of the ordinary'.

PERFORMATIK2013 - Meggy Rustamova is creating a video and a performance for Performatik. The title refers to a ‘disrupted’ place, an ‘in-between space’ that you enter on your way to somewhere else. You appear to know where you are going, yet the new place is a mystery. (dis)Location examines fiction and reality and the transition between the two. The performance is based on spontaneity, chance, and what may or not be expected.

PERFORMATIK2013 - In this dance performance the Austrian choreographer and dancer Philipp Gehmacher starts out from his own, ‘stuttering’, movement idiom as a way of examining the strengths and weaknesses of language together with the performer Jack Hauser. The utopian notion of language as an instrument for social cohesion versus the autonomy of language in the practice of art. What does language do to us, and what do we share when we speak the same language?

PERFORMATIK2013 -
The French artists Hippolyte Hentgen (Gaëlle Hippolyte & Lina Hentgen) have for some years been engaged as a duo in doing surreal drawings. They have increasingly been asked to contribute to stage designs, installations and sculptures. And so now this is their first performance. With the theatre-maker Philippe Quesne as their coach, they created a silent world in which their cartoonlike figures come to life.

PERFORMATIK2013 -
In Helvet Underground a monumental clock in typical Black Forest style takes centre stage. Two folklore figures occasionally appear out of the clock. Like puppets, they perform wooden dance steps in silence. The live installations by the French duo of Clédat & Petitpierre are recognisable, odd and humorous and appeal to a broad audience.

Van Eeghem tells anecdotes from his youth in Bruges. He paints what he tells and tells what he paints. Ending up with himself and his earliest beginnings. French-speaking theatre critics nominated Au Sanglier des Flandres for the 2012 Prix de la Critique.

PERFORMATIK2013 - For Mountain, Orla Barry set to work with 57 words, an actor, a performer and a musician. Luck, chance and a bit of wizardry play equal parts in this work. The language objects on the stage not only make up the set, but also provide the foundations for the script. By playing with poetry, songs, monologues, speeches and suchlike, unexpected links between words, meaning and performance emerge.
