PERFORMATIK 2015 DOUBLE BILL - Body Not Fit For Purpose is the first overtly political work of choreographer Jonathan Burrows and musician Matteo Fargion. Its starting point is the uselessness of dancing to express anything of any real concern and at the same time the inherent, gloriously foolish radicality of the attempt. With sequenza, artist Manon de Boer and violinist and composer George van Dam present a programme of live performances and films around four compositions for solo violin

The internet is a source of inspiration for Barbara Matijević & Giuseppe Chico. YouTube is the subject of their new performance. The performer transforms the stage into an intimate room where she records her videos.  As she interacts with a range of devices inspired by machines, gadgets and toys commonly used by DIY filmmakers, the performance establishes close parallels between amateur and artistic practices.

Theatre maker Laila Soliman looks for the story of the 1919 Egyptian revolution in songs, plays and archives. Into this she weaves the story of two theatre divas of that time – the first Muslim women ever to perform on stage, thus unleashing a revolution in theatre and in the lives of many Muslim women. Are there parallels with today’s Tahrir uprisings?
