In Canto 5 of his Inferno, Dante sings of the unhappy love of Paolo and Francesca. De Parade interweaves Dante’s story with other stories and characters in Western culture. An adventurous journey in which there is much to discover in the world, the other and ourselves.

Following his four-part stage adaptation of Proust’s A la recherche du temps perdu, the director Guy Cassiers has started on another magnum opus of European literature, an adaptation in three performances of Der Mann ohne Eigenschaften by the Austrian writer Robert Musil.

Jan Decorte has been using dance and dancers in his theatre productions for many years (a.o. Charlotte Vanden Eynde and Anne Teresa De Keersmaeker). But the written word was always the chief source for every project. In Tanzung, however, he is for the first time starting out resolutely from movement.

In its first musical, the Nature Theater of Oklahoma from New York deals with the life story of one of its company members: Kristin Worrall told her life story over the telephone and thereby provided – literally – the libretto for the piece. Moving and hilarious!
