A composite evening of new and existing scenes, short pieces and one-act plays, possibly alternated with music and dance. Different actors, dancers or musicians will take part at different times in a variety of pieces.

The legendary Discordia will present two productions in the Kaaistudios. In Marionett, Discordia appears to allow the audience to pull the strings: indeed the actors present themselves as puppets. They use the puppet-show as a metaphor for free will: ‘to what extent do you play yourself or are you played?’?

In Investment, the renowned performers Davis Freeman and Jerry Killick go through several options: help the local orphanage, buy the ‘right’ shares and earn even more money, help young artists, or simply buy the latest Ferrari. Investment playfully questions the ethics of investing.

In spring 2010 Jan Lauwers wrote a new play called The Art of Entertainment for the first production he will stage as artist-in-residence at the Burgtheater in Vienna. Needlapb 17 is devoted to this play.

The African actor Franck Edmond Yao and the European actress Cornelia Dörr initiate a dialogue on the Othello character, one of the most famous roles for black actors in the Western world. Their exchanges develop into a tough confrontation between two cultures that is marked by extreme emotions, prejudices and misunderstandings.
