Taavi Talve

Blind Spot

video installation

Blind Spot
Blind Spot

video

Wed 20.03 - Sat 23.03.19

Blind Spot is a quest to find what scarce traces remain of Epp Kotkas, an Estonian artist who was active in the experimental dance scene of New York in the 60s and 70s. Talve combines fact and fiction to tell the story of an artist who was totally unknown in her home country. What you witness is an essayistic memory that attempts to reconstruct an unrecorded past.

performance

Fri 22.03 - Sat 23.03.19

If we continue to consume more language more quickly and superficially, will we still be able to use language instinctively and emotionally? PRICE is appealing to movement and music to answer this question. Along with producer Cecile Believ, pianist Sebastian Hirsig, fashion label BARRAGÁN and photographer Mirjam Graf, he will captivate you with his body and voice. You stand next to him on stage, while the soundtrack of heavenly ambient will flow to dark tribal – and back again.

performance

Sat 23.03 - Sat 23.03.19

Nora Turato points a selfie-cam at today’s hectic internet culture. She exposes the fears that are at the root of our society’s shortening attention span. Her monumental installation in cold, black steel suggests that our ‘totally wired’ state of mind may be far more institutionalized than we think.

Thu 14.03 - Sat 16.03.19

Bryana Fritz takes the position of an amateur hagiographer. In four different portraits, she makes a performative collage based on female medieval saints and the modes by which they subverted their enclosed and restricted lives, deaths and passions. Submitting her physical and digital body to holy echoes from the past, she dissects and harnesses the tools that give body.

CIRCUIT X  – On 5 November 2015, a tailings dam for toxic mine waste in the mountains of the Brazilian mining province Minas Gerais burst. A destructive mud flow wiped several villages off the map before plunging into the six-hundred-kilometre river Rio Doce. Mining Stories is an intriguing journey through a web of personal stories and social issues that is untangled before your very eyes. Fascinating and shocking docu-theatre.

performance

Fri 31.03 - Sat 01.04.17

Ant Hampton decided to step outside the building and beyond the comfort zone of an autonomous art practice, opting instead for an aim of real consquence via a clear demand: break your bubble. This performance-as-assignment for two, gently reveals itself as an urgent and vibrant challenge to audience, artist and art-centre.

The man who holds the 12kg bronze handkerchief, does not enact, he manifests the physical effort it takes to hold the weight and therefore encapsulates those instances when we mask our internal embarrassment by transferring the cause to the external factors such as stress, exhaustion, pain.
