Fest
Fri 31.01 - Sat 01.02.14

Fest is set in the context of an imaginary festival in Copenhagen. The main characters are the performer Ivo Dimchev, a programmer, a technician and a critic. What starts off as a realistic piece soon turns into a fantasy about sex and power. Dimchev’s performances leave the audience bewildered and/or elated!

A Better Place

A Better Place
A Better Place
Fri 13.12.13

A better place is an attempt to solve all of the world’s problems in one 45-minute performance. Yes it might seem ambitious, but why not let art again have a chance to change the world? A better place will be the third piece of Davis Freeman & Jerry Killick’s action performances which reflect on what it’s like to live in the world today.

Albert Quesada

Wagner & Ligeti

performance

Wagner & Ligeti
Wagner & Ligeti
Thu 12.12 - Fri 13.12.13

This will be a piece about the understanding of orchestral music, its repetitions, structures and the play with time. A group of dancers will guide the audience through a listening experience, and rhythmically conduct the sound with their actions. The rhythm of their abstract movement in synchrony or asynchrony with the music will create the narrative

During Working Title Platform (WTP) the public can see the results of Workspacebrussels’ residence work. This Place
This Place
Thu 12.12 - Thu 12.12.13

This place starts from the idea of displacement as motor, vector, generator of physical movement, sense and values. In their new project Sara Manente and Marcos Simoes want to apply this notion to the proximity between things and things in a relational process. For example all the elements of an artistic creation: being objects, performers, words and audience.

Thu 05.12 - Fri 06.12.13

The right to be lazy! Paul Lafargue, son-in-law of Karl Marx, was already advocating this in 1880. However, it will still take a lot of effort to have this recognised as a human right. In recent years our world has become even more agitated and hectic. There is one consolation: the quest for rest plays a central role in EXIT. A performance that is like a beneficial rest cure!

Fri 29.11.13

The public writes improvised poetry live, and the born performer Ivo Dimchev makes a song of it live at the piano. And the good thing is that you get generously paid for it.

Masterplay - production postponed
Thu 28.11 - Fri 29.11.13

Ivo Dimchev, one of our artists-in-residence, invites the audience to write dialogues on paper. Three professional actors are given these live on stage and immediately get to work. The characters they play are fixed – the woman, the man and the child – but how their relationship develops depends on the audience. - This production has been postponed to a later date.

Thu 28.11.13

The Austrian artist Franz West (1947-2012) asked Ivo Dimchev to make two videos for two of his ‘Adaptives’ (portable sculptures). Dimchev then asked West if he could create a live performance using these sculptures. Dimchev not only uses them, but also becomes a sculpture himself.

All Ears
All Ears
Wed 23.10 - Fri 25.10.13

Kate McIntosh’s work is a delicious mixture of all sorts of genres. In All Ears she tells us about the behaviour of people and animals, jokes about politics and group dynamics, performs dances about bees and traffic jams... and asks pertinent questions. A witty and lucid performance that balances between experiment and entertainment.

Nadia Tsulukidze

Me and Stalin

performance

Me and Stalin
Me and Stalin
Fri 11.10 - Sat 12.10.13

Nadia Tsulukidze is fascinated by Stalin as a dictator and as the director of the USSR Gesamtkunstwerk. She mixes live camera and images by Mikheil Chiaureli from The Great Farewell, among other things, with the story of her family during the Soviet era and present-day Georgia. Stef van Alsenoy creates soundscapes. Dirk Verstockt is co-writer and director.

dance performance

Monique
Monique
Thu 26.09 - Fri 27.09.13

For Monique, the choreographer Alix Eynaudi was inspired by bondage. Together with Mark Lorimer she stages ‘soft torture’ techniques: pinching, dragging, pulling, carrying ... They work and feel and pretend to feel. Monique is a dance full of touch, manipulation and contact and at the same time full of care and attention.
