Untitled 14 KM

performance installation

Untitled 14 KM
Untitled 14 KM
Wed 23.06 - Thu 24.06.21

Untitled 14 KM explores how the art world currently approaches the concept of contemporary art in its relation with identity, and specifically Arab identity. Youness Atbane examines this through an enacted dialogue between fictional characters: an Arab-Andalusian poet, a director of the museum of contemporary art, a curator, and an artist. These characters are trying to set up an exhibition that analyzes the concept of modernism.

Elastic Habitat
Elastic Habitat
Tue 06.03 - Thu 08.03.18

Elastic Habitat is an immersive installation – you could call it a kind of playground – that invites you to explore, touch, and even carry textile sculptures. You literally inhabit an imaginary body and thus have the time to explore your own identity in an uninhibited, sensory, intuitive way.

Box with holes
Box with holes
Sat 23.04.16

Box with holes seeks to explore the relationship between touch and its visualisation. How do we see and experience inter- human interaction in a world where we contact each other more and more through technology?
Box with holes focuses on a displacement of the senses, which places the spectator into another mental state.

How can we perceive reality if we reinvent the primary elements of language? In Holy Words, Niko Hafkenscheid revisits his passion for language and history. How did man get to the point of writing things down by using signs?

TALK
TALK
Thu 27.01 - Sat 29.01.11

Actor #1

performance installation

Actor #1
Actor #1
Thu 14.01 - Sat 16.01.10

Kris Verdonck quite often combines his fascination with machines with images and concepts that owe a lot to science fiction. This certainly applies to the three-part Actor #1, a performance about evolving: about what has come into being, what is, and what may come into being. Three variations on the metamorphosis from chaos to order. The three parts of the performance are shown in separate rooms at the Kaaistudios, and a guide takes you from one to the other.

Evaporated Landscapes

performance installation

Evaporated Landscapes
Evaporated Landscapes
Fri 27.11 - Fri 27.11.09

Mette Ingvartsen creates artificial landscapes that evaporate, dissolve and transform, using such ephemeral materials as light, sound, bubbles and foam. In Evaporated Landscapes, choreography no longer signifies the arrangement of physical movements in space, but the relationship between the ephemeral elements that magically flow and dissolve in space.
