Cinemaximiliaan is a cinema for people on the move. The project started spontaneously in the refugee camp in the Maximilian Park, where daily film screenings provided a welcome distraction. The volunteers of Cinemaximiliaan have encountered dozens of newcomers with artistic talent. This evening features work by three of these people.

The choreographer Eszter Salamon looks back over a century of warfare. Together with her six dancers Salamon moulds a striking ‘dance of death’, using tribal dances and folk dances. All of these originate in conflicts on all five continents. Masked figures fight the horror in vibrant rituals!

Departing from the sexual utopia particular to the counterculture of the 60's, Mette Ingvartsen looks closely at our contemporary bodies, searching for cracks to penetrate our understandings of sexuality today. With the solo 69 positions she starts a new cycle of work entitled The Red Pieces. The series is a contemporary reflection on sexual practices and society.

In A Speculation the Turkish choreographer Begüm Erciyas wants to chart money and all its movements. How do you create a choreography for something that can always be exchanged for something else? How can you make something dance when it has no body? Can the dynamics of the market be shown on stage?

Travelling between the West African metropolis Abidjan and the European
art and theatre scene, Monika Gintersdorfer and Knut Klassen are not
looking for a mutually inspiring intercultural exchange. Rather, the
differences and contradictions between whites and blacks are the driving
force behind their idiosyncratic performances. Together with their
performers they create theatre to the irresistible rhythm of the
heartbeat of the Abidjan club and performance scene. Every night at the
Kaaistudio’s will be an all-round happening with at least two
performances, dance, theatre, lifestyle, music and partying!
