PONI starts out from very concrete elements: a penalty kick in football, the shooter, the ball, the goalie and the net. They are also inspired by each other and the world around them as well as by science fiction, ritual and science.  They attack dance under the enigmatic title Pnlt + eay = Penalty. The production is set up on a budget of 0.0 euro. You will be watching a try-out.

Sun 08.06.08

Next season we shall be presenting a new work by the choreographer Jean-Luc Ducourt and the pianist Alain Franco called Works by 3/1, a choreographic composition for one female and three male dancers, and a piano. It was only a few years ago that Ducourt developed a language of movement based on classical ballet. This provides the basis for the new work too, which he conceived for three male dancers with one female dancer as a counterpoint.

Tue 27.05 - Thu 29.05.08

KUNSTENFESTIVALDESARTS 08 - The performance is a radio show for soldiers at the front. Twelve contemporary pop songs are alternated with light comments in ‘chewing gum English’. Wölfl’s dancers move cautiously and cold-bloodedly, whether they are playing an electric guitar on tiptoes or elegantly draping a leg over a synthesiser.

KUNSTENFESTIVALDESARTS 08 - Over the last ten years Thomas Hauert has, both at home and abroad, shown himself to be a choreographer with a voice of his own. His latest piece, Accords, is an abstract choreographic composition that one experiences like a piece of music. The dancers physically transpose, amplify or distort the dynamics, harmony, melody and counterpoint in their bodies.

Ars Musica - At the end of November La Monnaie, Bozar, the Kaaitheater and Ars Musica Winter presented Georges Aperghis’ Avis de Tempête, an event of the highest order. Gives you an appetite for more. Machinations, first performed in 2000, is pure Aperghis and is the liveliest and most moving piece he has ever written. Music, text, video and performers enter into an alchemical combination.

Ars Musica - Le Grand Gamelan is the title of a suite composed by Bo Van de Werf of the Octurn jazz ensemble for an imaginary gamelan group comprising the eight musicians of Octurn and the five percussionists from Ictus. The spirit of the ‘gamelan’ is evoked by the expanded percussion section (marimba, vibraphone, celeste, gongs, glockenspiel and tubular bells, and traditional elements of the gamelan).

This new dance performance opens at The Kitchen in New York and a week later will be on at the Studios. The title of this performance is a pictogram. It tells us that we are departing, that we have quit a place, a situation. The way one reads this sign in daily life is in transit, on the road. One perceives it for but a few moments.

They sought the greatest possible freedom from the machine, but sooner or later it sent them in the direction it decided upon.

It has a sound all its own, in which one hears traces of dub, urban folk, world, minimal, gipsy music and musical cast-offs from the Soviet period.
