Le Maillot – One Size Fits All

Le Maillot – One Size Fits All
Le Maillot – One Size Fits All
Fri 26.11 - Sun 28.11.21

Departing from the simple action of shirt pulling, common in football as a method of maintaining contact with an opponent, not letting an opponent get away and typically seen as an aggressive act, Ahilan Ratnamohan and a group of performers attempt to push this action to its limits, debunking its aggressive, competitive quality to arrive at something new. In doing so the jerseys begin to take on a new significance.

Bootlegged

Bootlegged
Tue 21.01 - Wed 22.01.20

Across the span of a decade and a half, Boyzie Cekwana and Danya Hammoud have kept a nodding acknowledgement of each other’s trajectories and strategies for survival. Now they come together so they can stand, one next to the other, one on top of the other, turning, bending and entangling around each other. 'We come together so we can both reach down to the top of our boots and take out our bootlegged goods, our smuggled stories.'

Body of Work

Body of Work
Body of Work
Thu 25.04 - Sat 27.04.19

Dance and choreography leaves traces on your body, and they are often physical and concrete: growing muscles or the trauma of injuries. But the repetition and memory of movements also leave traces. The choreographies of the past continue to dwell in the dancer’s body. In the solo Body of Work, Daniel Linehan explores these traces in his own body.

A lot of moving parts
Fri 11.01 - Sat 12.01.19

How does dance think through Eleanor Bauer and how does Eleanor Bauer think through dance? In this solo, the American choreographer and performer Eleanor Bauer embraces the particularity of dance-thought as synthetic, complex, change-oriented, fantastical, and multi-faceted. She works with the frictions, collisions, translations, love affairs and gaps between dance and language.

Both, Two

dance

Both, Two
Both, Two
Wed 21.02 - Thu 22.02.18

Two female bodies entwine until they become only one. Or three? Or… none? Where does a body actually begin? A clear question resounds in this duet that both refers to the tropes of the genre but also transcends them. What does it mean nowadays to be two together?

unannounced
Fri 21.04 - Sat 22.04.17

A sudden and uannounced event can change the colour of whatever went before. unannounced – a performance for six dancers – plays with the way your focus shifts when a sudden apparition suddenly changes your perspective. The creators zoom in on the deep dark shades of the black box to look beyond the surface of the here and now. The anticipation of what is to come echoes the afterglow of the past.

Our times
Fri 13.01 - Sat 14.01.17

Saving and processing the daily tsunami of information is a time-consuming occupation. Based on this fact, Michiel Vandevelde analyses the role of thought. With an exuberant choreography full of re-appropriated dance, fragments of text and bizarre music, he articulates a critique of our time, carefully searching for new modes of thought.
