PERFORMATIK 2015 - With their ritual, circular movements dancing dervishes (Sufi Muslims) attempt to reach a state of religious transcendence. For A Possibility of an Abstraction: Square Dance Germaine Kruip asked the dervishes to break through the circle and introduce square patterns into the dance ritual.

The Moroccan choreographer Taoufiq Izeddiou and his dancers cross a site of 100m, but they take their time to do it, so that you, the audience, can take it calmer too. Sit down, watch and relax!

Arnold Schönberg’s Verklärte Nacht (1899) is inspired by a poem by Richard Dehmel, about a woman who tells the man she loves she is pregnant by another man. In 1995 Anne Teresa De Keersmaeker created a group choreography based on Schönberg’s composition. She has now rewritten the piece as a duet. A shameless romantic love story in the dark light of a Verklärte Nacht (transfigured night).
