Finland has got to be the finest place on earth for contemporary composers. The Kryptos Quartet gives us one hint why that must be so-its members have fallen for Aulis Sallinen. With Piet van Bockstal-considered one of the best Belgian oboe players-it will also perform Kalevi Aho’s Quintet for oboe and string quartet, a fascinating story with neoclassical asides.
