Lecture Songs #1 - een redenaarsconcert

music
talk
26.01.2010

You will be familiar with the B’Rock baroque orchestra from the fantastic version of Purcell’s Dido & Aeneas they did with Jan Decorte in 2006. Now, as from 2010, B’Rock and LOD music-theatre from Ghent will be presenting an alternative annual New Year’s concert called Lecture Songs. In the first one, B’Rock will be playing music by Henry Purcell (including a suite from his Fairy Queen, with the brilliant young soprano Julia Doyle), Matthew Locke and their contemporaries, providing a heavenly setting for a present-day cocktail of music, words (in Dutch) and images. These ingredients will be provided by the science philosopher Jean Paul Van Bendegem and the graphic designer Gert Dooreman. Where is the world headed? These first Lecture Songs will make it clear.
