In En Atendant (medieval spelling) , Anne Teresa De Keersmaeker is taking a new step in her exploration of the combination of music and dance. This time her starting point is the Ars Subtilior: a form of polyphonic music from the 14th century that is based on dissonance and contrast. The world premiere was at the Avignon Festival.

The young Ecuadorian choreographer Fabián Barba composed a recital of nine short soli by Mary Wigman, one of the great innovators of modern dance in Europe. The soli date from 1929-1931.

But the written word was always the chief source for every project. In Tanzung, however, he is for the first time starting out resolutely from movement.

In 1912 Debussy’s Prélude à l'Après-midi d’un faune was the backdrop for Vaslav Nijinsky’s legendary choreography. A hundred years later Raimund Hoghe produced his version of the subject, set to Debussy’s music and several lieder by Gustav Mahler.
